Barrel coating is certainly the most economical process when it comes to the complete coating of very small parts such as technical springs.
The advantages are obvious: a large volume of springs can be painted and dried in just one pass without the parts getting caught, bent or sticking together. In addition, the small parts are painted on all sides, thus completely protecting the component with the paint coating.
As an example, springs only a few millimeters in size are painted with special PTFE coatings at ROTOVER using the drum coating process. A PTFE coating brings with it the well-known advantages of a dry lubrication coating. These include minimized friction, reduced wear and thus lower maintenance costs. ROTOVER painted springs offer an even, dry surface and a defined uniform coating thickness. Of course, PTFE painting is available in other color shades.
The drum painting process is the most suitable painting process to efficiently paint mass small parts. Alternatively, small parts are spray painted, but at much higher unit labor costs.
In drum coating, the small parts are coated in special coating systems as bulk material in a batch process. Using internal wide or round jet guns, the paint is sprayed in fine doses over the rotating parts. Due to the permanent mixing, all parts receive the same amount of paint and are coated evenly from all sides. The highlight: At the end of this coating process, the parts are usually cured and ready for packaging.
