Color marking wire springs is one of the most effective techniques for avoiding errors caused by mix-ups.
Many customers of technical springs choose EPITAL painting as a suitable measure to reduce the probability of occurrence of the possible error when assessing the risk of their processes (standard requirement of IATF 16949 and DIN ISO 9001:2015). This is because if the human eye cannot reliably distinguish between similar springs in a process, such a color coding system takes over the assignment function.
ROTOVER coats technical springs with the special EPITAL 2K HT paint systems and thus fulfills, among other things, the Siemens standard SN 68051. These special paint colors from the sister company HUELSEMANN Coatings are particularly known for their high color variety, the thin paint layers and the elastic, very good adhesion on cold-formed wire springs. Even springs just a few millimeters in size can be coated all around without the threads sticking together or the springs being damaged.
Other properties of EPITAL paint coatings include:
- Good adhesion of the coating, even under continuous load
- Non-affection of the mechanical spring properties
- Sufficient climatic resistance of the coating
- No physiological adverse effects, e.g. in the case of skin contact with the coating
- No risk of hydrogen embrittlement
- No corrosion-causing components that have a negative effect on the springs or the environment.
The wire springs are coated at ROTOVER using the special spray drum coating process. In this process, the EPITAL paint systems are finely atomized and sprayed onto the surface of the components. The ROTOVER process enables a large quantity of springs to be coated in a single operation. This also makes the ROTOVER barrel coating process the most economical application process for cold-formed wire springs.
The EPITAL coating systems developed for the barrel coating process are available in a very wide range of colors. We recommend the EPITAL metal effects for technical wire springs, as there is an extensive selection of different color effects. However, standard colors are also feasible at ROTOVER.
